Stranger Looking At The Clouds

This morning as I drove down Canton Center Road, you were stopped on the sidewalk, having paused in your walk to enjoy the beauty of the clouds.
Thank you for reminding me to stop and watch the day.

Don’t Make Up What You Miss..

Life is short, and if we’re not careful things will pass us by.

Good friends, enjoyable times, and experiences you’ll never want to forget. If it were possible, there are a few things I would go back and do over, but a workout or a missed meal wouldn’t be one of them.

I’d hug a few people a bit longer if I knew I wouldn’t see them again and kiss a few people a little longer too, but I won’t try to make up a workout or a meal.

Why? Because things happen. We’re not perfect so we shouldn’t try to be.

If you think about it, making up for missed meals at the end of your day doesn’t work. Never has, never will.

In fact, it’s counter productive when it comes to helping you lose weight.

Think about it - the average person’s day starts at 6, 7am. Some of you lucky “so-and-so’s” start a little later.

During your day, you usually get all your stuff done or work hard from 8 to 5, 9-5, 10-6 or whatever your schedule might be. You work until the evening, start winding down around 6-7 pm, and watch Friends or Nip/Tuck and veg out on the couch.

Most people are active during the day, and relaxed in the evening. But most of us eat very little during the day, and eat a big dinner at night - when we’re the LEAST active during the day.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to eat more of your calories during the day when you’re burning more energy and calories than to eat big in the evening when your body ISN’T burning more calories and creating a greater tendency to store calories??

Hmm…

If I were a Jedi master, at this point I’d say, “Think about it, I must...”

If you’re looking to lose weight and burn off more calories, then schedule your meals the way you operate.

Eat more during the day when you’re burning more energy so your body and utilize the food more effectively, and as your day winds down and you get lazier (there’s nothing wrong with planned laziness), you ingest less calories and prevent your body from storing those extra folds of fat that just HAPPEN to show up around your waist in the morning.

A big part of succeeding in fitness is to set up a game you can win. Don’t play Russian Roulette with a guy with a big hole in his head. And don’t make fitness training rocket science, because it ain’t.

Do it and make it easy. Don’t try to fit a square peg in a round hole.

If you miss a meal, get over it and move on. You’re not perfect so expect a few missed meals here and there. Don’t dwell on it. Just move on and make the most out of the next meal.

Best,

abiola
