Ralph Pierce - A Loving Papa To Many

I began penpalling shortly after my kids were born, making friends all around the world. In 1990 I recieved a letter from an elderly man asking if I would like to be pals. He and his wife were very sweet and he told me about all the pals he had that he had over the years adopted as kids and grandkids. From the start I called him and his wife dottie Gramma and Grampa. He gave me really good advice and supported me when things looked bleak, never judged me, and never said I told you so.

We had been writing for a year when, one day, my car broke down.  I needed 90 dollars to fix it, but had no idea how we were going to come up with the money.  I prayed and ask God to show me.  The next day I opened the mailbox to smell Juicy fruit gum (he always put a couple pieces in each letter). Well, he had sent me 100 dollars and said he didn’t know the need - he just knew God laid it on his heart to do this.

Over the years, Ralph has worked closely with God to help me out when times were rough.  I haven’t asked for anything, nor did I want to ask, but he always told me if you need it, it’s yours.  In these past few years, there have been times when I had to break down and ask Grampa and Gramma for a helping hand.  They not only helped but did it with love and care, never making me feel like I owed them anything. They will always and forever hold a very big place in my heart.  Because of their deeds, I am inspired to help others.  Perhaps someday I will get the opportunity to pay them back for all they have done.
