Joshua, My Son

I have a 20 year old son, Joshua, who is in the Army and is stationed in Hawaii. Joshua will be going to the sandbox from hell very soon, and I need to say a few things here, in a public forum…

Joshua is the light of my existance. He has running through his veins a life blood that he and I share. Even though he is miles from me now and will be even farther in the future, I can feel his every heartbeat. He is my son. I can’t fathom a life without him, but I know that we are together regardless of distance.
Joshua is strong, loving, and very funny. He is the best and worst of me. He will go in confidence knowing that the skills he has embedded in his mind and body will endure anything that comes his way. He is a leader. He is a great example of what a soldier should be and the Army knows this as well.

May the white light of the Holy Spirit surround you and keep you safe in the face of danger my son, I pray that our Father will watch over you and protect you if the hands of death may come your way.  I am with you always.
