Jill Hansen - A Helpful Friend

Jill is someone I’ve known for a very long time and is a person I would consider to be a great friend.  She recently had her second child (a daugther), and because of that she’s constantly busy.  I still talk to her quite a bit over the telephone but we just don’t get that “quality” time together like we used to.  Although we don’t get to see each other as often anymore she still seems to find ways to constantly impress me with her generosity and unyielding kindness.

Take, for example, one day last week when I happened to bump into her at the grocery store.  We spoke for a few moments while waiting together in the check-out line, and she told me about how busy she had been caring for her infant daughter.  I mentioned to her how busy I had been with work, and how that the very same bundle of groceries I was holding in my hands was intended for a dinner party I was hosting that evening for some colleagues. 

Somehow (probably due to my “rushed” attitude that evening) I continued through the check-out line only to realize I had left my checkbook in my car.  Already running late and with little time to spare, I was just beginning to set my groceries aside to walk the long distance back to my car when Jill grabbed my wrist and said, “Don’t worry about this one, I’ll pay and you can get it back to me when you’ve got more time to spare.”

Thanks to Jill I was home on time, was able to get things prepared for my guests, and was relieved of a bit of the stress that was gripping me that day.  Thanks Jill!!
