Jessica Murland - A Diamond in the Rough

For a long time I doubted whether or not I would ever be able to find love.  I doubted my motivation, my open-mindedness, my heart, even the entire female sex. I dated and dated and I never came close. I had perfect 20/20 vision to a fault, in that I could see girls’ faults so clearly and easily. I was tired of the dates, the same generic questions, and the same banal answers. And then Jessica came into my life.  With what started out as an innocent date between co-workers, Jessica soon broke down all the barriers I had spent years building up.  With a cute smile, a spontaneous idea of adventure, or an inappropriate joke, she could make me forget everything that troubled me about dating. She made me feel comfortable.  She made me feel like it was okay to be myself.  I no longer had to do what I thought a girl would want or like.

Moreso, she showed me what it was like to care for someone else.  I had spent so much time focused on my own needs and desires, I never even realized how much I could get out of caring exclusively and completely altruistically about another. Now when I have a problem, or am in a down mood, I only need to look at her angelic face to be reminded of all that I have, and how nothing could possibly be so bad in a world that could have blessed me with her.  My life has done a complete 180 degree turn from a depressed, narcissistic womanizer into a caring, fulfilled young man, eager to seek his hearts desire, knowing he has the wind at his back, the sun on his face, and an angel alongside to guide him.
