Golda Houser - My Mom, Who Has Earned My Love And Respect

My mother is a good person.  I’m sure many people believe that about their mothers and write about it, telling of all the great teachings their parents brought them up with.  My mother didn’t just teach me how to be a good person in life.  She didn’t just teach me the little things that mean so much to others.  She didn’t just teach me about love, friendship, heart ache, and pain.  She helped me through all of lifes experiences, and she helped me to be a better person.  She pushed me to realize right from wrong, and she punished me for my wrong.

I had to earn respect from my mother and my father.  I had to earn the little things in life.  I had to work for a better lifestyle.  I was forced to see life first hand (nothing was ever just given to me).  She was a good person, because she wanted me to see life wasn’t easy, but she wanted to protect me from all harm.  She was always there to catch me when I fell.  She didn’t want anything bad to happen to me, but she wanted me to learn to fly on my own.  She wanted me to grow and change.  She wanted me to be the best at what I loved, and she believed in love.

She married for love, she worked for love, and she stayed for love.  She has always been the lover of all lovers and the artist of all artists, and today I live life by my heart and then my mind because I believe life is best when love counts most.  Our lives are fuller and our hearts are whole.  We may have more hardships in life, because we trust and open ourselves to the pain of those who don’t believe, but our lives are happier because we have known the truth of love and what can come of true love. And so I give thanks to my mother.  My true inspiration and the person who has helped me most in life to just be me and to follow my dreams.  She is a good person, but she is more than that; she is also a good mother.
