Earle Sanford, a Friend with a Big Heart

Earle was the pastor of my church a few years ago when I was at the bottom of my life.  A kind, intelligent preacher and a compassionate humanitarian deeply committed to making life better for the less fortunate in our community and the area, Earle has the great gift of seeing the goodness, and the potential for goodness, in people.

I became involved in church life with his help.  My involvement helped me find my feet and my own sense of a place in this world.  That involvement gave me a sense of hope and purpose, a new chance at life itself. 

A lesson of this story for me is that we can’t underestimate the range and depth of any act of kindness.  What may seem simple and small to me could be revolutionary on some level for someone else.  To respect the potential of kindness is to live in the spirit.  This is the lesson I learned from Earle, and it was a great gift.
