Dawn Lee

In a previous entry about my ex girlfriend, Lauren Lee, I had meant to include a section on Dawn, Lauren’s mother, but got carried away.  So here is where I would like to recognize Dawn Lee for the wonderful and amazing person that she is.

I became aquainted with Dawn after my relationship with Lauren developed, and it didn’t take me long to realize how dedicated this woman was in her faith in God.  She truly serves God to her fullest and shows it by her participation in her church, whether it be singing beautifully in the choir or ministering to prisoners in the county jail.  Her inside beauty can also be seen just by the way she treats those around her. 

Dawn Lee has not always had such a charmed life, as she has been faced with several roadblocks along the way.  But several months ago, perhaps her largest obstacle presented itself.  She was diagnosed with Hepatitis and the outlook was not good.  Her life was going to be in danger without a liver transplant.  Through contact with Lauren I had been notified that her conditions were deteriorating and she was always feeling rather ill when Lauren would visit her.  It was a very sad situation.  She informed me that she would sometimes not have all of her senses and it just seemed as though she wasn’t all there.  It was just heartbreaking to hear of the demise of such a wonderful person and to know that Lauren was having to deal with perhaps the loss of her mother now.  She had already lost her father in 2002 and I couldn’t imagine how devestated she would be without her mother as well. 

The other day when returning home from work, I received a call from Lauren.  She was very upset.  She informed me that Dawn had become dehydrated and her kidneys were beginning to fail.  They rushed to her to a hospital nearly sixty miles away were she was put into intensive care and listed in critical condition.  Lauren informed me that a family doctor had told her that without a transplant, her mother may have a month left to live.  I couldn’t believe it.  I had prayed for Dawn before but after hearing of this I dedicated all my prayer to Dawn and her unlikely recovery.  I told God to please let something happen to keep Dawn here on this Earth.  I told God that Dawn is truly a warrior for Him here on Earth and serves His cause to the extent that many of us are not able to claim.  And I also asked to save Lauren from the tragedy of losing both of her parents.  She had been through so much already in her life and was not deserving of such a tragedy.  I prayed and prayed at night just hoping that something would happen.

This morning I woke up around 8 a.m. and checked my phone.  I had a new text message which was kind of odd.  Who would be texting me before 8am? I checked it and it was from Lauren.  News had come through and this is what it read....

MOM IS GETTING A TRANSPLANT TODAY!!!

I couldn’t believe it.  I called Lauren and she was just bubbling with happiness.  She said Dawn could hardly contain herself and was telling everyone in her hospital room she loved them! So as of right now Dawn Lee is awaiting a liver transplant for this evening.  Tonight she will receive a new liver and a new chapter in her life will begin.  Today God provided a miracle for Dawn, her family, and loved ones, and in my opinion has been given a second chance at life for being such a wonderful person.  Many people have been praying for Dawn and I honestly believe this shows the power of prayer.  So I just wanted to write this to let everyone know of the joy that is being experianced today by many people, but most of all for Dawn Lee.  A wonderful person and a treasure of this world has been granted a second chance in life and I feel blessed just to know this woman and the wonderful things that she will accomplish.

I hope this story can instill hope in any of you that are feeling down and hopeless.  Just always know that anything is possible and no matter how bad the situation may seem, things always have the ability to turn themselves around.
