I have refered to him as “the bum who loved me.” He told me to say “Good riddance - he was a freeloading bastard” at his funeral someday. Despite his untreated mental illness, he is a good person. His smile this morning said it all. He is the father of my child and someone who made me laugh a lot. Today in court I said that I know that he has a good soul. It felt good to get that on record. He is valiant, he is a warrior, he is a god, he is my mirror, he is far away. When I pour a glass of water, I say a little prayer for him. I celebrate the good in everyone today. Only gratitude will thaw the ice in my heart. There was a little crack where the sun shone in. He was the sunshine, my first true love.
