Ashby Anglin - A Long-Term College Friend

As a college student my friends are forever transferring, going abroad, taking time off, or graduating. This can be very distressing especially when some of them fall off the earth or return from their experiences as brand new people that you can no longer get along with.

As a college student sometimes I am completely consumed by my work. The only people that see me are my boyfriend and my two best friends. When your world narrows like that it can be distressing.

The solution to both these things can be as simple as a friend from abroad shooting you and email, a phone call to grab coffee with a friend who is passing through New York for a few days, a change of address letter from a recently graduated friend. Ashby Anglin has managed, in the short time of our friendship to do all these things.

She and I worked together and became fast friends. She even helped drive me around when I twisted my ankle. She then promptly left for Italy, but continued to email me about everything (including the time she got attacked by monkeys in Spain). She was in New York for a few days before heading back home for the summer and called me to get coffee in that brief time. During her senior year, even though she and I were both constantly busy and overworked, she made it a point to come see my dance shows and hang out with me. Ashby was always a breathe of fresh air at school.

Now she has graduated, but I still hear from her often. We still hang out as often as we can. I will probably never lose touch with Ashby, which is a comforting bit of stability in my otherwise completely chaotic college existence.
